Review: Yocan UNI Pro vs. Smok Micare

by on October 10, 2019

Yocan and Smok are well-known in the vaping industry for their top-quality devices. Both the UNI Pro and Micare are similar in different ways. They are designed for vaping oils, CBD vape liquids as well as nic salt e-juice.

The Yocan UNI Pro and the Smok Micare are both very portable. They are both made of zinc alloy. The UNI Pro measures 75.5mm by 36.5mm by 27.5mm, and it weighs 51g. On the other hand, the Micare has a dimension of 56mm by 43mm by 14.8mm, and it weighs 69g. The compact C-shape design and lightweight of the Yocan UNI Pro make it especially easy to carry around.

The Yocan UNI Pro comes with a 650mAh battery while the Smok Micare has a 700mAh battery. The difference in battery capacity isn’t so much. Both devices can last you a whole day of vaping. The Micare supports adjustable voltage, just like the UNI Pro. The voltage options for the Smok Micare are 3.4V, 3.6V, 3.8V, and 4.0V. However, with the UNI Pro, the voltage range of the device is 2V to 4.2V.

Smok has designed some remarkable pods for the Micare. However, Yocan decided not to limit the selection of pods that you can use with the UNI Pro. The mod can be paired with virtually any pod that has a diameter of 14mm or less. Like the Micare, the UNI Pro has a magnetic 510 threading. The Yocan UNI Pro allows you to adjust the width and height of the atomizer section based on the size of your cartridge. You can raise the 510 plate by pushing a knob on the body of the device. Also, there is a dial that you can turn to control a shutter-like collar that holds your cartridge in place.

Another major difference between the Smok Micare and the Yocan UNI Pro is that the latter comes with an OLED screen while the former does not. Of course, you can monitor the battery level on the Micare because it comes with an LED battery life indicator. However, nothing beats monitoring your battery level and the other settings of your device from a screen. OLED screens are usually reserved for more powerful devices, but Yocan decided to fit this device with one. There are two buttons below the OLED screen on the UNI Pro for controlling the settings of the device. This Yocan device does not come with vibration alert like the Micare, but why would you need vibration alert when you can see everything from the OLED screen. While the Micare is draw-activated, the UNI Pro has a responsive, square firing button.

Just like the Smok Micare, the Yocan UNI Pro has a 10 seconds preheat function. Simply press the firing button twice to activate the preheat mode. It has a 15 seconds cutoff limit while the Micare has an 8 seconds cutoff limit. Both devices come with short-circuit protection, low voltage protection, and other safety features.

The Yocan UNI Pro and the Smok Micare are both selling for around $35.99, and they come in various attractive colors. It is possible to attach a lanyard to both devices.
